This is my new painting of Porthcurno.
Porthcurno is a lovely location down in the far west of Cornwall and is famous for more than just this beautiful beach – it is because of its history as a major international submarine communications cable station and also as the location of the Minack open air Theatre.
For me it is the scenery that is the star. This is one of those locations that once you have been there you never forget the experience. The towering cliffs, turquoise sea and the golden sand make it a place where you just don’t want to leave, you just want to soak it up for as long as possible.
The viewpoint I chose for my oil painting is where there was a small tantalising glimpse of the beach down below. I think this particular view captures all the unique features of this wonderful place.
